Knife Heat Treatment Process
Heat treatment is one of the most important stages in creating a high-quality knife. It is a carefully controlled process of heating and cooling the blade steel to develop the properties required for reliable performance, including hardness, strength, toughness, flexibility and edge retention.
At Impact Cutlery, our blades undergo a controlled heat-treatment process appropriate to the type of steel being used. Careful temperature control, cooling and tempering help achieve the right balance between hardness and toughness, ensuring that the blade can hold a dependable cutting edge without becoming unnecessarily brittle.
Heat treatment is only part of the process. Each blade is carefully ground, finished and honed by skilled craftsmen, with close attention given to blade geometry, edge formation and overall finish.
From the initial shaping of the steel through heat treatment and final sharpening, attention to detail is at the heart of every Impact Cutlery knife. Our aim is to combine traditional knife-making craftsmanship with carefully controlled processes to produce distinctive handmade knives designed for lasting performance.
